Call for Papers
The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia (NBRM) announces a call for papers for the 6th Annual Research Conference. This Conference is traditionally organized to mark the anniversary of the country's monetary independence, and next year, the NBRM celebrates its 25-year jubilee. The Conference will take place in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, on 6 April 2017. It aims at bringing at one place, researchers from academia and policy-making institutions, with a sole purpose of enabling a ground for a debate on relevant economic issues.
Given the main challenges in central banking arising from the last global crisis, referring to interactions between financial sector and macroeconomic developments and the need for policy redesign to appropriately address the changing environment, next year's conference topic is titled Central Banking under Prolonged Global Uncertainty: The Latest Lessons while Searching for the “New Normal". The Conference will be opened by a high-level policy oriented panel discussion by distinguished guest speakers from international institutions, central banks or academic institutions, followed by presentations of empirical papers. The papers submitted for the conference should ideally deal with the following issues:
-
Monetary policy during the crisis: conventional and unconventional approach;
-
Monetary policy, financial stability and macro-prudential regulation;
-
Central bank independence during the global crisis;
-
Fiscal consolidation and public debt sustainability;
-
Globalization and cross-border contagion risk;
-
Financial system reforms;
-
Macroeconomic forecasting in a dynamic environment: challenges and innovations.
The organizing team would like to invite all researchers from academic and policy-making institutions to submit paper proposals. We solicit high-quality submissions, both theoretical and empirical papers related to the non-exclusive list of broad topics suggested above. Interested researchers should submit their papers or extended proposals (min 500 words), together with a short CV, by e-mail at [email protected] no later than 1 February 2017. Authors of the accepted papers will be notified no later than 24 February 2017. The conference version of the paper and the presentation are expected by 27 March and 3 April 2017 for the paper and the presentation, respectively.
Please note that the NBRM will cover accommodation expenses for the selected speakers. The selected papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings Volume and on the web site, subject to author/institution permission.
Please be informed that the 6th NBRM Conference will take place as a joint two-day event on 6-7 April 2017, organized in cooperation with London School of Economics, LSEE Research on South Eastern Europe.
