Today, November 8, 2004, the Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Petar Goshev, participates at the Meeting of Governors of the Central Banks, organized by the Bank for International Settlement in Basel on a regular basis, every two months.
At the meeting, the subjects under discussions will be related to the implementation of the new Capital Treaty prepared by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the role of the rating agencies in the financial markets. The implementation of the new Capital Treaty will allow deepening of the supervisory criteria, methods and techniques for assessing all types of risk in the banks' operations, which will contribute towards further strengthening of the security of the banking systems worldwide.
The meeting was attended by Governors and other representatives of Central Banks of over fifty countries in the world, as well as representatives of the European Union, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank.
