In the period October 2-4, 2013, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, in cooperation with the European Central Bank, organizes a Regional Seminar on Statistics.
The aim of the seminar is introduction to the European Statistical System and the latest international requirements for the production of official statistics for the needs of the creators of the economic and monetary policy, with particular insight into data requirements for monitoring and sustaining financial stability. Representatives of the central banks from Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia, Montenegro, as well as representatives from the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia and the State Statistical Office, are attending the seminar, which represents excellent grounds for sharing experiences among central bank statisticians from the region, from EU candidate countries, as well as EU member countries. Guest speakers on the European statistical reporting requirements and visions on the future challenges for the statistics within the EU are the Director General of the Directorate on Statistics of the ECB, Mr. Aurel Schubert, as well as heads of various divisions for macroeconomic statistics within the Directorate on Statistics of the ECB. The event was officially opened by the Vice Governor, Ms. Anita Angelovska Bezhoska, with an address on the latest challenges for the statistics after the global financial crisis.
