Press release from the business meeting held between the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, the banks, the Clearing Institutions and the Central Registry of the Republic of Macedonia

On 2 April 2014, a business meeting was held at the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, attended by representatives of banks, clearing institutions and the Central Registry of the Republic of Macedonia. The meeting was opened by Maja Kadievska-Vojnovic, M.Sc., Vice-Governor, who presented the development plans of the National Bank in the area of promotion of payment statistics and its alignment with the payment statistics regulations of the European Central Bank. At the meeting, the participants presented the new quarterly report on payment operations developments, which will start being published by the National Bank during 2014, and a Comparative analysis between the payment statistics of the National Bank and the payment statistics of the European Central Bank, focusing on the future activities for convergence to the statistics of the European Central Bank.

At the meeting, the participants, in an open and constructive atmosphere, agreed upon concrete actions to improve the quality of data that banks and legal entities, which are involved in the payment system operations or provide other payment services, submit to the National Bank. To this end, a payment statistics methodology will be developed during 2014, which will be the subject of discussions and consultations with the banking sector. The payment statistics methodology will be incorporated in the bylaws of the National Bank, thus improving the electronic system for submission of payment statistics data.
