The Governor of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Ljube Trpeski, met the executive manager of the World Bank, Mr. Peter Stek, today. Mr. Stek was informed about the monetary and financial developments in the Republic of Macedonia, in light of recent situation related to the developments in the northwest of the Republic of Macedonia. At the meeting, Mr. Stek was presented with the data regarding the actions and instruments the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia undertakes in order to preserve the macroeconomic stability in the country. At the same time, Mr. Stek was informed about the implementation of the agreed reforms related to the FESAL II arrangement with the World Bank, which are in the domain of the National Bank.
Mr. Stek stressed that the World Bank deeply appreciates the fact that the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia are handling the situations like the Kosovo crisis and the current one, successfully, not allowing such situations to undermine the macroeconomic stability of the Republic of Macedonia. In addition, Mr. Stek expressed the support the World Bank is giving to the Republic of Macedonia.
