The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia has published the data on the interest rate statistics, prepared and adapted to the European standards defined by the European Central Bank in the Regulation of the ECB on the interest rate statistics (ECB/2009/7), and the Manual on MFI interest rate statistics.
The new applied methodology allows the users to have access to more detailed data needed for monitoring and analyzing the movements in interest rates in the Republic of Macedonia, additional breakdowns by which data on interest rates are adjusted to the data of the European Union Member States, thus achieving larger international comparability of data. The new data set provides more detailed information on lending and deposit interest rates in terms of maturity, currency structure (euros, US dollars, Swiss francs and other currencies), the purposes of the loans granted to households (housing loans, consumer loans and other purposes), the initial period of fixation of interest rates on loans, etc. It also provides greater scope by including savings houses as reporting entities. In addition, reporting entities will, for the first time, report on loans approved to / deposits received from the sector of non-profit institutions serving households. To ensure time comparability of data, time series data for the period from 2005 onwards have also been published.
More detailed information about the changes in the reports published, methodological changes and their effects, is available on the website of the National Bank.
