Today, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia Council held its second session, at which the Financial Statements of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia and the Annual Accounts for 2013, audited by an independent auditing company, were discussed and approved.  

In the opinion of the independent auditor, the Financial Statements of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia impartially represent the financial position of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia as of 31 December 2013, and the results of the operations and cash flows for the year then ended, in all material respects, in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). 

At today's session, the Council also adopted the Decision amending the Decision on currency exchange operations. The amendments mainly relate to the novelty that introduces the possibility for natural persons to purchase and sell cash foreign currency and Denars through ATMs, by selecting the cash exchange function. Thus, modern technologies that are available for other banking products, will now be offered also for currency exchange operations. The main benefits for customers would be the speed and availability of the service regardless of banks' working hours. Currently, this novelty would be allowed only for banks, which will be required to submit a notification along with relevant documentation to the National Bank for each ATM with currency exchange function. Moreover, with the Decision amending the Decision on currency exchange operations, the obligation for the authorized currency exchange office to sell to non-residents only on the basis of repurchase, is terminated. 

The Council also discussed other matters within its jurisdiction.
