Today, October 25, 2005, a delegation of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia comprising of the Governor, Mr. Petar Goshev, the Vice-Governor, Mr. Vanco Kargov, and the Advosor-Coordinator to the Governor, Mr. Zoran Jovanovski, participates in the work of the Fifth Regional Finance and Investment Conference of “Euromoney” for SouthEast Europe, held in Dubrovnik. During the Conference, Governor Goshev chaired a Roundtable entitled: “Why to invest in the Republic of Macedonia?” Inter alia, Mr. Goshev pointed to the following advantages of the investing in the Republic of Macedonia:


1.       Constitutional and legal guarantee for the foreign investments and tax benefits and relieves;

2.       Many years of macroeconomic stability, expressed through low rate of inflation, stable exchange rate, fiscal discipline, and policies directed toward improvement of the conditions for further preserving the macroeconomic stability;

3.       Accomplished current reforms for improvement of the business environment, expressed by minimized influence of the government on the private sector, liberalization of the labor market, easier start of and exit from the business, further strengthening of the creditor’s rights, increasing of the institutional capacity and improving financial intermediation.

4.       Orientation toward and activities for full international integration, where the Republic of Macedonia reached a high level of political, social, economic and institutional harmonization with the countries - members of the European Union, NATO, WTO etc.

5.       Proof of the positive processes, performances, and perceptions of the future development of the country expressed by the improved credit rating.


At the Roundtable, besides the presentation, Governor Goshev answered questions and provided explanations for specific questions related to the possibilities for and the advantages of the investing in the Republic of Macedonia.


Participants in the Conference, which continues tomorrow, are a number of statesmen, governors and ministers from the economic area, from the countries of southeast Europe, as well as high representatives of the potential investors, such as Mr. Richard Ensor, General Manager of “Euromoney”, H.E. Ivo Sanader, Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and H.E. Alfred Moisiu, President of the Republic of Albania etc.
