The Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, Dimitar Bogov, has held a press conference today on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the monetary independence of the Republic of Macedonia.
At the press conference, an address was made to all relevant events in the area of monetary policy in the Republic of Macedonia in the recent period and to all current activities for taking on the current and future economic challenges of the country. Additionally, it was reported on the 20 years of monetary independence and on the successful following of global monetary trends, the constant growth of the Macedonian economy and the maintenance of macroeconomic stability in the country.
The Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Dimitar Bogov, also addressed the beginnings of the monetary independence 20 years ago. The monetary independence was one of the major steps of the country on its pathway to independence and sovereignty. With the creation of the national currency - Denar and the application of symbols of the Macedonian history, culture and nature on our new currencies, the NBRM made an outstanding contribution to the overall independence of the Republic of Macedonia. Moreover, the Governor Bogov also ascertained that the Denar, due to its role in the continuous process of preserving price stability, became appreciated currency in the country and beyond.
Many activities and events will be carried out in the next few days related to the mark of the anniversary. An Official Opening Event and a Conference will be organized titled: Challenges of countries from South-Eastern Europe in the current economic and financial turbulence in the euro area, the regular NBRM Annual Award will be bestowed for best paper in the area of macroeconomics to a young analyst, two exhibits will be organized and there will be a promotion of the new catalogue of the National Bank Museum and the study "Coinage of the Roman Town of Stobi".
