The Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia adopted a decision on issuing prior approval to Steiermarkische Bank und Sparkassen AG from Graz, Republic of Austria for acquiring 100% of the total number of shares of "Investbanka" AD Skopje. The transaction for acquiring shares shall be made within 180 days from the day the Governor's approval is obtained.
Steiermarkische Bank und Sparkassen AG operates since 1825 as a savings bank. Its operating license is issued by the Austrian Financial Market Authority. It has holding and control in several banks and leasing companies, real estate, payment cards operations and research and development in the Republic of Austria and the region of former Yugoslavia. The bank and the largest portion of the Austrian savings banks are part of the Erste Bank der Oesterreichischen Sparkasse AG group.
According to the revised consolidated financial statements for 2007, the bank's financial potential amounts Euro 12.2 billion, its equity is in the amount of Euro 942 million and it showed positive financial result of Euro 110 million.
The entry of Steiermarkische Bank und Sparkassen AG is expected to contribute to future increase in the financial intermediation in the Republic of Macedonia, strengthen competitiveness in the banking sector and higher rise in the banking products and services.
