We want to inform the public that, according to the Law on Foreign Exchange Operations in force in the Republic of Macedonia, natural persons - residents of the Republic of Macedonia, may not invest in securities abroad.
Recently there has been an influx of offers for making profit by trading through Internet platforms. These platforms promise achieving big returns and additional funds for investment, in order to attract potential investors more easily. Trading through the Internet platforms brings many risks and can lead to big losses for investors.
We want to inform the public that, according to the Law on Foreign Exchange Operations in force in the Republic of Macedonia, natural persons - residents of the Republic of Macedonia, may not invest in securities abroad. Accordingly, trading or investing in stocks, bonds, money market instruments, derivative financial instruments and other financial instruments in foreign financial markets through Internet platforms is prohibited.
To prevent such trading, the authorities have begun to take steps to detect and penalize natural persons for their unauthorized trading and investing through these Internet platforms.
Fines for natural persons who invest in foreign securities in this way amount to Euro 1,500 - Euro 3,000.
