Large value payment systems

Large payment systems are systems which are designed primarily for processing of immediate and/or large payments. A significant number of systems for large payments have an option to process low value payments, however, their primary purpose is large and urgent payments. Most large payment systems settle with asset on accounts with the central bank. The processing of this type of payments imposes high standards of safety and efficiency.

In the Republic of North Macedonia, the single system for processing large value payments and urgent interbank payments is the Macedonian Interbank Payment System (MIPS).
