Retail payment systems

Retail payments systems are designed to handle large volumes of payments with relatively low amounts between economic agents (individuals, companies and public sector). Retail payment systems can settle funds on accounts with the central bank or with commercial banks.

In the Republic of North Macedonia, a retail payment system is the Interbank Clearing System AD Skopje.
