Press release of the NBRM
The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia informs the public that it will host the Sixth International Research Conference: Central Banking under Prolonged Global Uncertainty: The Latest Lessons while Searching for the "New Normal". A novelty this year is that the Research Conference of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia will be organized as a joint event with the London School of Economics, LSE - Research on South Eastern Europe, and its Conference: Social Cohesion in South Eastern Europe.
This joint event will be held in the period 5‒7 April 2017 in the Holiday Inn Hotel, in Skopje. The Research Conference of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia is traditionally organized to mark the anniversary of the monetary independence of the Republic of Macedonia, and this year celebrates the 25-year jubilee of this event. On the occasion of this jubilee, the Conference will be opened by a panel discussion dedicated to the transition process in the region, and will be attended by senior officials of international financial organizations, academic institutions and central banks. We are also honored to welcome Mr. Poul Thomsen, Director of the IMF’s European Department and the first Mission Chief for Macedonia, who will take part in the panel discussion and give a keynote presentation.
Furthermore, the Conference will also welcome representatives of central banks and academic institutions in the region and beyond who will present their research papers. This Conference usually brings together researchers from central banks and academia and provides research-based discussion and advice relevant for central bankers and other policy-makers in the region. This joint event with the LSE will present a vast array of topics of different social areas, and will welcome a number of researchers from the region and beyond, which adds value to this event.
